Ashes – Dubvine (Marvin Gaye Dubstep Remix)

Marvin Gaye is probably one of the last artists you would expect to get  his song remixed. Today I’ve got a BANGER dubstep remix of his hit ‘Hear It Through The Grapevine’ done by Ashes. I’ll let our newest guest writer Sage from Boulder take it away. “From Ottawa, Ashes is a producer i’ve been following on soundcloud for about a year now. He is a brilliant producer and it shows that he’s been doing it since way back in 99?. I’ve always dug his tracks but Dubvine is clearly a standout.” Enjoy!

Kristoff Krane – Work (Ft. Slug)

Kristoff Krane [Hip/Hop] Kristoff Krane Work (Ft. Slug)

Kristoff Krane is a smaller name in hip-hop, having been a member of a handful of groups in and around Minneapolis. But he’s certainly a man who has paid his dues, touring his mid-western behind off since released his first solo album in 2008. In 2010 he’s released two albums: “Picking Flowers Next To Roadkill” and “Hunting For Father”.

Lacking any kind of major star power, “Work” succeeds on its own merit. Strange Matter produced an incredibly clear, bumping beat that acts perfectly as a canvas to Krane’s lyrical musings on labour. Guest emcee Slug (from Minneapolis group Atmosphere) contributes positively to the track as well. I haven’t checked out the rest of his albums yet, but this track makes me want to.

50cent New! Cee Lo Green Ft. 50 Cent Fuck You (Remix)

50 jumps on Cee-Lo’s latest single “Fuck You” for the remix. I don’t know if this is official or not, and I’m pretty sure 50 doesn’t give a shit.

We’ve been scouring the music lands, and filing through tracks that you enthusiastic readers and musicians have sent us. We’ve found mashups from DJ’s far and wide. We’ve found down-tempo ones. Also, keep in mind we want all of you to send us everything you got. We’re gonna be doing this here thang weekly, so send em’ on. Just make sure to give us your info so you get your well deserved credit.

Brraaatttt its about that time! For starters I’m pretty stoked about this weeks #MM, has a strong diverse selection and I also have the pleasure of introducing a lot of new artists into the mix that I’m sure will start to frequent the madness that is Mashup Mondays. To start off we’ve featured about 4 tracks from the up and coming heavy hitters that go by the name of The MashMaticians. They shot us a preview of their newly released mashup album the MashoChist, that you can download here.

We’re also introducing +VIBES and I decided to change up the pace a bit and throw Neon Hitch into the mix this week.. its not your cookie cutter standard mashup but I feel like it falls under the category of a “mashup” none the less. Also threw in some random goodies for you snitches and threw in a track from the mighty Xaphoon Jones.. the man behind the scenes of Chiddy Bang. Before Chiddy started blowing up, Xaph was a heavy hitter in the mashup game but now due to their recent success he sorta strayed away from the scene and moved on.. unfortunately. Either way this weeks rundown is dope, I love it, you’ll love, enjoy mooks.

Kanye West – “Power” (Video)

Well, shit. I posted this earlier, then saw it was only 1:44 and figured it couldn’t possibly be the real video. A promo teaser or something, right? Nope.

This is, no doubt, a powerful visual filled with imagery, symbolism, and meaning more than average viewers will catch, but the bottom line? It’s going to leave a lot of people scratching their heads. It’s a move you probably should have expected from Kanye West – this is not entertainment, it is a statement. Personally, I’m not mad. It’s not what I was hoping for, but I’ll take this over the Eminem video any day. Read more about what the director said via MTV:

Slum Village – Fall N Love

Today’s delivery is brought to you by Slum Village. Now, I admit some of my recent choices for Daily 2% could be questionable so today its time to bring the BPM back down to a undeniable chill level and Slum Village is the group to do it. The track I’m bringing to you today is called “Fall N Love” and this is the original mix because they released a remixed version later when they couldn’t get this sample cleared but this is too good to pass on you readers. J Dilla had a gift and there may be imitators but no one will ever have that something that he had. Check out the track and chill….

Mouth’s Cradle – Summertime

mouths cradle front porch [Fresh] Mouths Cradle Summertime

Just like my morning coffee, Mouth’s Cradle from have created a special blend of music that is not only incredibly satisfying to consume, but leaves quite a nice aftertaste. Hailing from Syracuse University, this upcoming college duo are aiming to become leaders in the new class of college artists who create buzz for themselves while sitting through lectures. Do we believe in the buzz? Absolutely. Combining the right amount of pop and hip/hop influences, their future is as bright as their latest song ‘Summertime’. From all the sunny feel good anthems we listened the last couple of months, Summertime is by far the greatest. Sampling Train’s Hey Soul Sister, Mouth’s Cradle leaves us wanting more.

Below is also Front Porch, Back Porch from their EP titled ‘The Next Big Thing‘ released in april and featured on the front pages of iTunes “New and Noteworthy” and “Pop” sections. Enjoy

Blackout (Xaphoon Jones Chill Dubstep Remix) – The Knocks

Chiddy Bang is making quite the name for themselves, (and playing the CU Welcomefest concert), and the producer behind the magic Xaphoon Jones makes almost as many songs solo as he does as he does with Chiddy. Today I’ve got a siiick remix of The Knocks songs ‘Blackout’. It’s got some real chill vocals that grow on you pretty fast, and then the dubstep influenced bass drops throughout are sooo sick and go perfect with the dubstep. You guys loved the dubstep remix he did of Big Sean, so i’m sure most of you guys will love this one. It’s more mild, and not really fully dubstep, just a dubstep sounding bassline. It’s not new at all, but Xaphoon doesn’t get enough credit for his producing work. Enough talking, bump this song, give it a full listen before judging, enjoy!

Real T@lk – “The Bandwagon”

RT COVER4 500x500 Real T@lk The Bandwagon

Real T@lk’s new single ” The Bandwagon”, which is off his new LP dropping on Labor Day. Re@l Talk started out as a spoken word artist from Chicago. He linked up with producer Athentik Made in college and carried out the transition from spoken word artist to emcee. I’m glad he did it. This shit is nice – it’s got a lively beat spiked with horns and drums for days and Real T@lk riding it nicely while showing off his skills with words.
